We are five friends who shared an apartment near our university in Waterloo. For most of a school year, the shower in that apartment kept leaving mineral residue around the fixtures, and every wash felt less refreshing than it should have.

At first we blamed the rental. Then we went home for reading week and compared notes. The same complaints came up in different houses: residue around the showerhead, fixtures that were hard to clean, and shelves full of products that promised too much while explaining very little.

From complaints to a plan

When we got back to Waterloo, we started researching shower filters, replacement cartridges, and simple accessories. We found plenty of options, but the useful information was buried under technical language and dramatic claims. So we decided to build the store we had wanted to find: a small collection where every item has a clear job and a description that says exactly what it does.

How we work

We divided the work around lectures, part-time jobs, and late evenings at the library. One of us compares product designs, another keeps the catalogue organized, and the rest handle photography, writing, and the online store. Nothing here was built by a company in an office; it was built by us, between classes.

What we promise

Hydrova is intentionally small. Each product in our collection solves a specific everyday problem, each description is written in plain language, and replacement parts are easy to find. A routine people use every day should be easy to understand and simple to improve. That is the whole idea.

This story does not make health or product-performance claims.
